At the Vancouver Convention Centre, we have been working diligently to plan for a safe and gradual resumption of business that aligns with guidelines from government and provincial health authorities, while reflecting the expectations of our clients, guests and staff.
Meetings and events play a vital role as an economic catalyst for a wide range of industry sectors in British Columbia, while contributing to the advancement of collaboration and the important transfer of ideas and knowledge. Now, with a comprehensive safety plan in place for our team and our guests coming to our facility, we are excited to begin welcoming local clients once again and support the recovery of our province.
Over the past several months, our team has been collaborating with a diverse group of partners – health authorities, clients, venues and more – to explore what safe events look like, and how they can be hosted in our highly adaptable spaces and controlled environments. With that, as well as updated best practices from across our industry, we have now implemented a series of robust and comprehensive safety measures for our facility, our staff and events moving forward.
From how our team interacts with visitors, to further enhancements to our cleaning and sanitization procedures, to more thoughtful use of our spaces including updated room capacities, we have thoroughly investigated and revised our processes to further support the safety of those visiting our facility and our team. We will continue to adapt processes as necessary, keeping safety top of mind and adhering to pubic health guidelines.
The Vancouver Convention Centre is proud to continue supporting B.C.’s response to the pandemic. For the time being, our West building exhibition halls continue to be set up as an Alternate Care Site to increase provincial hospital bed capacity, and can be operationalized if needed.
Lastly, we are excited to welcome the community back to LOT185, which is once again open for take-out service after undertaking a thorough process to apply new measures around health and safety. These new protocols for food service, as well as an updated take-out style menu, can be viewed on our website.
COVID-19 has thrust our organization, our industry and our community towards a path of change and innovation. While events may look a bit different going forward, they will surely be better for greater consideration of your personal health and safety.
We look forward to meeting with you again soon.
