Annually, the Vancouver Convention Centre's district markers and arms of the Cauldron are illuminated in support of more than 145 community-based organizations and causes through the Illumination Program.
September 1: teal for World PCOS Day
September 4: blue for Prostate Cancer Awareness Month
September 7: red for World Duchenne Awareness Day
September 8: purple for International Literacy Day
September 9: red for International FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Day)
September 12: green for Living Donation Week
September 13: pink for World Sepsis Day
September 15: purple for World Lymphoma Awareness Day
September 21: red & blue for Laver cup
September 23: green for Light Up for Mito
September 26: red for United Way BC Day
September 28: yellow for National British Home Child Day
September 30: orange for National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
The Vancouver Convention Centre and BC Place will consider lighting requests for community-based organizations and causes that are important to British Columbians.
All requests will be evaluated based on:
Availability within the event and lighting schedule
The nature of the request
Background, goals and values of the organization, cause or event
How the lighting will be used to benefit the cause/event
How the request relates to the Convention Centre's goal of creating economic, community and social benefit for all British Columbians
Please note that special lighting cannot be considered for:
Commercial requests (e.g. product launches, corporate events)
Individual recognition or personal occasions (e.g. birthdays, anniversaries)
Religious or political events or observances
Institutions or professions (e.g. hospitals, schools)
Requests made via petitions and/or social media campaigns
Please send your request at least 30 days before the lighting date(s) requested. Applicants will receive a response stating whether the request has been approved or not within one week of application receipt. Special lighting requests are approved at the sole discretion of PavCo and its facilities. All requests receive due consideration, however due to demand, some lighting requests may not be fulfilled.
