VANCOUVER’S NEW ‘WINTER WATERFRONT DISTRICT’ OPEN IN DECEMBER

Join us for family-friendly festive holiday celebrations!

Metro Vancouver: This year, celebrate the holiday season at Vancouver’s new ‘Winter Waterfront District’, the season’s holiday headquarters located in downtown Vancouver. There will be fun festive events, entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Port Metro Vancouver and Canada Place together with waterfront neighbours, FlyOver Canada, the Vancouver Convention Centre and Burrard Landing at Convention Centre West, are excited to welcome the public to the Winter Waterfront District this December. The Winter Waterfront District includes a range of holiday activities:

  • Christmas at Canada Place presented by Port Metro Vancouver

  • Christmas at FlyOver Canada

  • The Vancouver Tree Lighting presented by Amacon at the Vancouver Convention Centre

  • Delightful decorations along the seawall at Burrard Landing at Convention Centre West

The District spans Canada Place Way from the foot of Howe Street to Thurlow Street at the foot of Jack Poole Plaza at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

Christmas at Canada Place
Christmas at Canada Place presented by Port Metro Vancouver is celebrating your favourite Canadian Christmas memories. Enjoy the free, family fun at the Canada Place cruise ship terminal from December 1 – 31st and skate under the Northern Lights, ride the holiday train, tour the historic Woodward’s Windows and more! It’s your chance to share your favourite Canadian Christmas memories and make new ones. Visit www.canadaplace.ca for detailed hours.

And help us fill a container for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank for others to make great Canadian Christmas memories. Drop off your food donations at the giant “present” located on the front plaza at the entrance of Christmas at Canada Place.

Christmas at FlyOver Canada
Christmas at FlyOver Canada will commence from November 29 and run through until January 5 every day from 10 am until 9 pm. Rudolph is lost and Santa needs your help to find him and save Christmas for all! Christmas at FlyOver Canada will include a Christmas themed ride fun for all ages and will also feature a free outdoor Christmas Plaza which will host a variety of live music performances, Santa’s Artic Art Workshop featuring live ice carving demonstrations, seasonal favorites’ served up hot and steaming from onsite vendors, Leonida’s Chocolate Café and Swiss Style Nuts, plenty of decorations and Christmas lights and much more.

2013 Vancouver Tree Lighting Celebration – Presented by Amacon
Enjoy the 7th annual Vancouver Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 6 from 5:30 pm – 7 pm on the Jack Poole Plaza at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

This free public event benefitting local charities will feature the lighting of a 50-foot tree as well as three additional trees at 18ft, 16ft and 14ft! Hosted by Steve Darling of Global TV, the celebration will feature performers and celebrity appearances by the Sarah McLachlan School of Music, the BC Lions, Trevor Linden and Santa.

The 50-foot Vancouver Christmas Tree and accompanying trees will be lit for the duration of the holiday season and are on display until January 3, 2014. Come see and photograph this beautiful Vancouver tradition with your family. For more information, please visit www.vancouvertreelighting.com.

The Winter Waterfront District is easily accessible. Transit users can disembark at Waterfront Station and there is plenty of paid parking onsite at both Canada Place and Vancouver Convention Centre West.
