Join us at our Open House on Canada Day

June 26th, 2013 / News

The Vancouver Convention Centre is inviting people to ‘hold the world in their hands’ at our Open House on Monday, July 1, 2013.

We are inviting the local community to tour our West building, learn about our work and many “unconventional” features, and participate in fun family activities.

Highlights include:

  • A Photo Journey Instagram Contest where guests will have an opportunity to take creative pictures at the following photo stations:
    1. “Hold the World in Your Hands”
    2. “Be a Busy Bee”
    3. “Be an Olympian for a Day”

The 10 best photos posted to Instagram using #VanConventions will be featured on Facebook. Prize packages with wildflower honey harvested from our beehives will be awarded to the winners.

  • Children’s activities including a colouring station, video screening and more!

  • Cauldron lighting from 12 pm to 7 pm to mark Canada’s birthday. Come re-live Canada’s glory in the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Vancouver Convention Centre is the world’s first LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum certified convention centre. The West building will be open from 10 am to 6 pm on July 1, 2013.

In addition to the Open House, the Vancouver Convention Centre is the Venue Partner of Canada Day at Canada Place, where an exciting line-up of events is scheduled in our East building and the Jack Poole Plaza.
