The Vancouver Convention Centre is strongly committed to strengthening the health and vitality of the local community. Through partnerships with local social enterprises, charitable organizations, and community groups, we strive to provide ongoing support for Vancouver's inner city and other deserving causes.
To date, the Vancouver Convention Centre has worked in collaboration with Binners' Project, Mission Possible, Hives for Humanity, United We Can, EMBERS Vancouver, Vancouver Community College's Job Readiness Program, WISH Drop-in Centre Society, Kudoz, Common Thread, Employ to Empower, The Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and Union Gospel Mission to create opportunities for positive impact within the region.
United We Can
The Vancouver Convention Centre is the largest single contributor to United We Can’s Recycling Depot, a local organization that creates self-sustaining social enterprises with a focus on environmental sustainability while creating income and job training opportunities for people with multiple barriers to traditional employment. Through our official food and beverage partner supplier Centerplate, we donate 100 percent of our beverage recyclables to United We Can.
Union Gospel Mission
The Vancouver Convention Centre is one of the largest food donors to the Union Gospel Mission’s meal program, donating kitchen over-production to this charity over the last 15 years.
The Greater Vancouver Food Bank
Since 2011, the Vancouver Convention Centre has participated in the annual CANstruction Vancouver fundraiser, a can food sculpture design competition where all food is donated to the Food Bank following the event.
