American Society of Neuroradiology 2009 Annual Meeting
May 16 - 21
The Executive Committee of the ASNR invites you to the 47th Annual Meeting, May 16 – 21, 2009, an event in the beautiful Northwest offering a combination of spectacular natural setting and all the excitement of a culturally diverse world-class city. Our meeting venue is the Vancouver Convention Centre, surrounded by the coastal mountains and located on the waterfront in the heart of beautiful, downtown Vancouver. Our host hotels are the Pan Pacific and Fairmont Waterfront with stunning views of the spectacular harbour, lush city parks and undeniable charm.
The NER Foundation Symposium will focus on the embryology, anatomy, and pathology of the limbic system and medial temporal lobe. Advanced imaging techniques, such as MEG and functional MRI, for evaluating epilepsy patients will be presented. Investigations with functional MRI techniques have also revealed the complex interrelation between the limbic system and psychiatric diseases. The neural circuitry of memory and learning will be reviewed. Featured lecturers will demonstrate imaging methods for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease, as well as novel new therapies to assist the memory-impaired patient. The hypothalamic-pituitary axis has a critical role in many brain activities, and the developmental and acquired abnormalities affecting these structures will be highlighted. Additional lectures will discuss the effects of endocrine diseases on brain function. As more of the mysteries of the brain and mind are elucidated, the imaging workup of these patients will require evaluation of both the anatomy and function of brain structures.
