Line of Work

Line of Work is a Worksafe BC public art project that celebrates the evolution and growth of British Columbia's workforce and the increasing role of safety in workers' lives. The sculpture embodies the transition and growth of the province's occupations from those originally centered on physical, natural resources to those increasingly responsive to emerging technologies and innovations. The piece dynamically juxtaposes notions of aspiration, ascension and progress with those of shelter, security and human inhabitation through form, materiality and engagement with the body.

Laminated wood elements peel backwards from the steel elements on the slope, increasing in length and angle to create a growing waveform that reaches out to shelter pedestrians.
